Funxtion is driven by the purpose of supporting gyms to enhance their member experience with customizable digital fitness content they can deliver at scale. Founded in 2011, Funxtion helps 1000+ gyms in 25+ different countries across the world by publishing 1000s of exercise videos and 100s of virtual classes every month. Since Funxtion allows different gyms to integrate its capabilities on their website and mobile applications, they rely heavily on their API platform. As their Digital Fitness platform grew, customers grew, and their SDK for different languages grew, problems started coming up. From deals taking more time to developers finding it difficult to decode errors, to the lack of visibility on API consumptions and performance they needed a solution that could help them navigate these challenges and that’s when they found Treblle.
Mission Critical Priority
Since APIs are a crucial part of Funxtion’s business operation, Funxtion’s team needs to keep them fully functional at all times. Building and maintaining high-quality APIs as the number of APIs grew became a challenge for the team. As an API-first business, this challenge was impacting the overall customer experience. Another challenge that Funxtion’s team faced was the time to debug the issues in their APIs. They tried using legacy logging tools which only revealed what went wrong, and not the bigger picture. Funxtion’s executive team, product team, and developers also had one more challenge, a lack of data and insights to make business decisions. They earlier had to go through a lot of logs, metrics, and data from multiple tools before making a business-critical decision.
How We Helped
Treblle acted as an additional engineer for Funxtion’s team, and Treblle’s API Governance feature helped them overcome their building and maintaining high-quality APIs challenge by giving them a score on the performance, security, and quality of their APIs along with areas of improvement.
Funxtion’s team also had a challenge with the time taken to debug issues in their APIs. Treblle’s API observability feature now helps them find the root cause of the issues faster and in a visually analyzable way which also helps them resolve these issues faster than before. This feature also helped in improving their internal team’s productivity and improved the digital experience for Funxtion’s users.
Apart from this, Treblle’s dashboard feature is helping Funxtion’s entire team (be it their CTO, product managers, or developers) make data-backed business and technical decisions. They now don’t have to switch between multiple tools and go through tons of logs and metrics manually before making any business-critical decisions.
